The position requires documentation of results and vehicle instrumentation for Road Test Simulator data acquisitions for 329 Road Simulator and MAST testing - including installation of wheel force transducers, other force transducers, accelerometers, displacement transducers, etc. on vehicles for road load data acquisition. In addition, the Mechanic/Technician will troubleshoot instrumented vehicles / transducers. Additional responsibilities include fixture building for MAST testing, welding, machining, and disassembly of prototype vehicle chassis/driveline components. Day trips to Chelsea Proving Grounds to support data acquisitions are required.
Basic Qualifications:
High school diploma, GED or equivalent required 2 years of experience as a mechanic or technician, familiarity with suspension/driveline systems and components, experience with fabrication skills such as welding & machining. Good communication skills with the ability to work in a team environment. Flexibility to attend day trips to Chelsea Proving Grounds to support data acquisitions.
Preferred Qualifications:
Two or four year automotive technician degree, ASE certification preferred,1 year experience with instrumentation and operation of various test equipment. Must be familiar with a variety of tools (hand, bench and machine).Experience with strain gaging, Advanced mechanical and electrical experience/knowledge.
