HOURLY RATE: $36.41POSITION SUMMARY:The Paint Supervisor directs daily surface preparation and coating work for industrial and marine projects in shop and field settings. This role assigns and supports crews, plans labor and equipment, monitors schedule and cost, and verifies that work meets contract specifications, coating manufacturer instructions, applicable surface preparation standards, and Vigor safety requirements. The supervisor also oversees warehouse receiving, storage, inventory control, and shipping activities that support production. The supervisor develops employees, addresses production issues, and models the Vigor Values: Truth, Responsibility, Evolution, and Love.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: (This list is not intended to detail all aspects of the assigned work but is representative of the job's overall responsibilities) Plan daily work with production leadership; review drawings, specifications, coating systems, production targets, access needs, and project milestones before assigning work. Supervise painters, blasters, and assigned support personnel; set expectations, provide instruction, monitor performance, coach employees, and elevate personnel concerns through established channels. Coordinate labor, blast media, coatings, consumables, equipment, staging, and work area readiness with operations, quality, safety, and other crafts. Lead pre-task planning and enforce safe practices for abrasive blasting, spray application, respiratory protection, ventilation, confined spaces, work at height, material handling, and hazardous materials. Oversee surface preparation, cleaning, masking, blast profile, soluble salt testing, environmental monitoring, stripe coating, coating application, and cure or recoat requirements. Confirm inspection and documentation requirements are met, including environmental readings, surface profile, wet film thickness, dry film thickness, and other specified acceptance criteria; coordinate hold points with quality personnel. Track labor hours and production against estimates; identify constraints, rework, material needs, and schedule risks early and communicate corrective actions to management. Ensure safe setup, inspection, maintenance, and proper use of blast pots, hoses, nozzles, reclaim systems, compressors, dust collectors, dehumidifiers, and airless or conventional spray equipment. Maintain orderly work areas and proper storage, handling, recovery, and disposal of coatings, solvents, and blast media; support QP 1 and QP 3 program requirements as applicable. Coordinate turnover of completed work, resolve deficiencies, and perform hands on coating or blasting work when needed and qualified. Verify quantities, conditions, and supporting documents against purchase orders and shipping records, and report shortages, damage, or discrepancies. Maintain inventory and monitor stock levels for coatings, blast media, consumables, tools, and project materials; coordinate with Warehouse Team to replenish and prevent production delays. Ensure materials are clearly labeled, assigned to the correct job, and stored in designated locations; maintain traceability of customer supplied material and segregate damaged or nonconforming items. Monitor coating shelf life, batch numbers, and storage conditions; rotate stock to use materials before expiration and follow manufacturer instructions and safety data sheets. Coordinate material staging, picking, and delivery to production crews; prepare completed work for shipment using appropriate packaging and protection to prevent coating damage. Maintain safe, organized storage areas, clear aisles, and secure storage; ensure forklifts and other material handling equipment are inspected and operated only by trained and authorized personnel. INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS:Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees. Ability to follow written and oral instructions, regarding daily functions, safety rules and regulations, and possible hazardous conditions. Ability to give instruction to others assigned to assist on projects.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Strong working knowledge of industrial and marine surface preparation and coating systems, including epoxies, acrylics, urethanes, polysiloxanes, inorganic zinc, and moisture cured urethanes. Ability to interpret specifications, technical data sheets, safety data sheets, drawings, and applicable AMPP or SSPC standards; calculate coating coverage and required wet film thickness for specified dry film thickness. Ability to organize crews, communicate clearly across crafts and shifts, document work accurately, and make sound decisions when conditions affect safety, quality, or schedule. Ability to identify equipment defects, coating defects, unsuitable environmental conditions, and other nonconforming work and coordinate timely correction. Working knowledge of receiving and shipping procedures, inventory control, material traceability, coating shelf life, and safe warehouse storage and material handling practices. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:5 or more years of industrial or marine blasting and coating experience, including demonstrated crew leadership, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and training. Experience planning work to production targets and interpreting coating specifications is required. Relevant credentials such as AMPP C 7, C 12, CAS, OSHA 10, forklift, and aerial lift training are preferred or may be required based on assignment. Required training and certification timelines are established by Vigor. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: NonePHYSICAL DEMANDS:Ability to lift, carry 50LBs, or maneuver objects, difficult objects will be lifted with the assistance of mechanical means or additional manpower. Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, kneel, twist, pull, push, grip, and climb.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: May be exposed to excessive noise, paint gases and fumes, and varying weather conditions.
