Optical Transport Installation Technician

Required Qualifications: Previous hands-on experience working in AT&T Central Offices Working knowledge of AT&T TP76300 standards and procedures Optical transport installation, integration, testing, or turn-up experience Hands-on experience with Ciena optical transport equipment Experience reading and following MOPs, EMOPs, job specifications, and installation drawings Experience installing and integrating bays, cabinets, racks, and network elements Knowledge of fiber routing, jumper management, cleaning, inspection, labeling, and testing Experience with DC power, grounding, bonding, and power verification Ability to work safely on live production networks without affecting customer service Willingness and ability to travel 100%, including assignments lasting three to four weeks or longer Flexibility to work days, nights, weekends, maintenance windows, and other assigned shifts Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record Ability to communicate professionally with customers, project managers, engineers, and field teams Technical Experience Qualified candidates should have experience with several of the following: Ciena 6500, 4200, Waveserver, or RLS platformsDWDM, ROADM, CWDM, OTN, SONET, and Ethernet transport Optical transport commissioning, integration, and test-and-turn-up Live circuit migrations and working-equipment modifications Network decommissioning and equipment removal Fiber characterization and optical power-level testingOTDR testingBER testing Software installation or upgrades on transport equipmentDC power transitions and secondary power workJDSU, T-Berd 8000, OTDR, Fluke, fiber scopes, and digital multimeters Cisco ONS, Infinera, Juniper, or comparable transport platforms

Primary Responsibilities: Install, cable, integrate, test, and turn up Ciena optical transport equipment in AT&T Central Offices Perform work according to AT&T TP76300 standards, approved MOPs, and customer requirements Install and secure equipment bays, cabinets, racks, shelves, and associated network elements Route, terminate, label, clean, inspect, and test fiber-optic jumpers Complete grounding, bonding, DC power, and equipment verification activities Perform optical testing, troubleshooting, fiber characterization, and service validation Support circuit migrations, network upgrades, power transitions, and decommissioning projects Complete required job packets, test records, redlines, closeout documentation, and quality inspections Coordinate site access and project activity with customers, engineers, project managers, and other field personnel Follow all AT&T, Ciena, customer, and company safety and quality requirements\nCompany
