Water Utility Technician

The Water Utility Technician, internally known as a Transmission Maintenance Technician, performs scheduled and non-scheduled maintenance and general repair of assigned CWD equipment and facilities. Employee will be required to perform in all areas of the District facilities, i.e., plant, pump stations, garage, grounds, storage tanks, underground vaults, and water distribution and transmission systems. Employee is responsible for the reading of the CWD master meters within the CWD transmission system. Candidate must have a strong mechanical aptitude and possess skills in mechanical repairs and maintenance. EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE Minimum of a high school education or equivalent. Employee shall be hired as a Maintenance Technician I (Grade 6) and is eligible for advancement to Maintenance Technician II (Grade 7) upon successful completion of the on-call checklist, completion of his/her probationary period, and possession of a valid State of Vermont Class D Water System Operator’s Certificate. Advanced proficiency of corrective and preventative maintenance in a water related field. LICENSES & CERTIFICATES Employee shall possess or be eligible to obtain a State of Vermont Class D Water System Operator’s Certificate as required by the Vermont Drinking Water and Groundwater Protection Division. Employee must obtain said Certificate within the timetable established by the certifying agency, including passing the required exam within twelve (12) months of employment. Valid State of Vermont Driver’s License, with the ability to meet the insurability criteria of the District’s insurance carrier.
