Traffic Control Specialist The Traffic Control Specialist supports Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) operations on heavy highway, bridge, and roadway construction projects. This position is responsible for setting up, maintaining, and removing traffic control devices, assisting with lane closures and traffic patterns, and ensuring compliance with approved traffic control plans, company safety policies, and applicable DOT requirements. Assist with the installation, maintenance, and removal of traffic control devices and work zone setups. Mark and identify construction zones for striping, lane closures, barrier wall installation, and other traffic control activities. Set up and remove lane closures in accordance with approved traffic control plans and project schedules. Deliver, position, and maintain message boards, arrow boards, signs, and other MOT equipment. Load, unload, transport, and organize MOT devices, materials, and equipment. Assist with inspections of traffic control devices and equipment to ensure compliance with project requirements. Monitor work zones and traffic patterns to help maintain a safe environment for the public and project personnel. Coordinate traffic control activities with MOT Supervisors, inspectors, and project teams. Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and traffic control requirements. Perform additional duties as assigned. Must be able to communicate effectively in English or Spanish. Previous roadway, highway, bridge, MOT, or related construction experience preferred. Knowledge of MOT procedures, traffic control practices, and construction site safety requirements. Ability to read and interpret roadway plans, traffic control plans (TCPs), and signing plans. Strong teamwork and communication skills. Must comply with all company safety requirements. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat and rain. Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, squat, push, pull, and climb throughout the workday. Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 100 pounds as needed. Ability to work around heavy equipment, construction traffic, and active jobsites. Ability to work flexible day or night schedules, extended hours, including occasional weekends and holidays, based on project requirements.
