Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) - PostgreSQL

Role Overview: We are seeking a technically strong and operationally mature Site Reliability Engineer with specialized expertise in PostgreSQL to join the Data Center Engineering team. In this role, you will act as a technical leader responsible for the reliability, scalability, and performance of physical and virtual data center infrastructure. You will ensure maximum system uptime and contribute to long-term infrastructure resiliency.

Key Responsibilities: Database Management: Design, implement, and maintain PostgreSQL databases, including schema design, indexing strategies, and query optimization. High Availability & Recovery: Implement HA/DR solutions using Patroni, streaming replication, and failover orchestration. Execute backup/recovery strategies including PITR and WAL archiving. Performance Monitoring: Optimize resource utilization using pg_stat_statements, EXPLAIN ANALYZE, and monitoring dashboards like Prometheus/Grafana. Security & Compliance: Ensure database security through RBAC and pgaudit. Automation: Automate routine maintenance, schema migrations, and patch deployments using Python, Bash, or Ansible. Collaborative Leadership: Partner with application and ETL teams to support data pipelines and mentor team members on PostgreSQL internals.

Required Skills and Experience: (Must-Haves):4+ years of hands-on PostgreSQL Administration experience managing production environments. Expertise in SQL and PL/pgSQL, specifically in database optimization and indexing. Proven experience with Backup, Recovery, and High Availability (HA) solutions. Strong proficiency in Linux and Debian environments. Proficiency in Scripting (Python, Bash, or Ansible) for database automation. Experience with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Zabbix, or Nagios).Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, IT, or a related technical field.

Preferred Skills: Understanding of Oracle and MySQL databases. Experience with PostgreSQL extensions like TimescaleDB.Exposure to hybrid environments (On-premise integrated with Public/Private Cloud).
