This role oversees the day-to-day operation of the ticket office and creates a welcoming, efficient experience for patrons, sponsors, vendors, and event partners. The Box Office Manager leads staff, manages events in the Etix ticketing platform, maintains accurate financial records, and supports ticket sales initiatives. This position also works closely with the Flint Firebirds to sell, process, and maintain season ticket memberships and individual game tickets. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, an effective team leader, and a hands-on problem solver who can manage competing priorities in a busy sports and entertainment environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Hire, train, schedule, and supervise event staff, including box office tellers, group sales staff, ushers, ticket takers, and parking attendants. Lead daily ticket office operations and coordinate staffing and preparation for events. Train staff on Etix, ticket sales procedures, cash handling, and customer service. Build and maintain events in Etix, including seating charts, ticket inventory, pricing, holds, and promotional offers. Create and maintain event seating manifests and pricing guides. Support ticket sales initiatives and assist customers at the ticket window, by phone, and through email. Work with the Flint Firebirds to sell, process, and maintain season ticket memberships and individual game tickets. Develop, implement, and communicate box office and event policies to staff, patrons, and clients. Prepare and maintain accurate event sales, ticketing, attendance, and financial reports. Balance cash drawers and the safe, prepare bank deposits, and oversee cash counting during and after events. Investigate transaction discrepancies and coordinate reconciliation and event settlement information with finance. Coach staff on handling patron questions, concerns, and feedback professionally. Resolve escalated ticketing issues and coordinate with event staff to support efficient guest entry. Protect customer information and follow established payment processing and cash handling procedures. Perform other duties as assigned by the General Manager.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in ticketing, box office operations, venue management, live entertainment, sports operations, or a closely related field. Previous supervisory or management experience. Experience using computerized ticketing systems and point-of-sale technology. Strong financial aptitude, including cash reconciliation, sales reporting, and transaction controls. Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple events, competing deadlines, and high-pressure situations. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on the venue's event calendar.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience managing box office operations in an arena, stadium, performing arts center, or similar entertainment facility. Experience with ticketing platforms such as Ticketmaster, Paciolan, Etix, or comparable systems. Experience preparing event ticketing settlements and reconciling ticket revenue. Knowledge of reserved seating, general admission, group sales, season tickets, and ticketing inventory controls. Familiarity with live sports and entertainment industry operations.

The schedule includes daytime office hours and evening, weekend, and holiday hours based on event needs. Additional hours may be required during busy event periods.
