About the Company:
We're partnering with a highly respected commercial litigation practice in Chicago to identify their next Associate Attorney. This firm represents businesses across a wide range of complex commercial disputes and is looking for someone who can step into live casework and carry real responsibility from day on.
About the Role:
The team handles sophisticated commercial litigation from first filing to trial: breach of contract and partnership disputes, shareholder and LLC disputes, class actions, creditors' rights, and complex multi-party business litigation in Illinois state and federal courts. Associates here get direct client contact early, real deposition and motion practice reps, and a genuine path toward owning matters rather than staying buried in document review.
Responsibilities:
- Manage all phases of commercial litigation — investigation, written discovery, depositions, motion practice, dispositive motions, and trial preparation
- Draft pleadings, briefs, dispositive motions, and client-facing advisory memos
- Represent clients in Illinois state and federal court, including hearings, mediations, and arbitrations
- Manage discovery workflows, including e-discovery
- Conduct legal research and help shape litigation strategy alongside senior attorneys
- Build direct client relationships and take part in business development as your practice grows
- Collaborate across practice groups where matters intersect with transactional or regulatory work
Qualifications:
- J.D. from an accredited law school; active Illinois bar license (or eligible to waive in)2+ years of commercial litigation experience, law firm or in-house
- Demonstrated experience with one or more of: contract disputes, partnership/shareholder disputes, class actions, or creditors' rights
- Strong academic credentials and excellent legal writing
- Court and deposition experience strongly preferred
- Ability to manage a caseload independently while working collaboratively with senior attorneys and clients

- Case and workload management
Preferred Skills:
- Prior judicial clerkship
- Class action or multi-party litigation experience
- Business development and client relationship building
