This role is critical to maintaining production flow while ensuring structural integrity and regulatory compliance for next-generation electric aircraft. You'll perform real-time stress analysis on composite and metallic parts, working at the intersection of engineering, quality, and manufacturing.If you have MRB experience, composite structures expertise, and thrive in fast-paced production environments where your decisions directly impact aircraft delivery, this is an opportunity to join a mission-driven team transforming aviation.ResponsibilitiesPerform stress analysis of nonconformances on composite (and metallic) parts and assemblies identified on the production lineReview quality documentation and NCRs (Nonconformance Reports) to determine defect extent and appropriate analysis approachProvide technical dispositions for nonconforming parts ensuring compliance with type design, regulatory standards, and airworthiness requirementsCollaborate with MRB liaison, Materials & Processes, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Design teams on complex deviationsCommunicate NCRs clearly to Structures Stress team leads and request technical support when needed to maintain production flowPerform stress analysis using existing loads, evaluating how defects impact margins and load pathsRun FEA (Nastran solver) when required for severe defects involving load redistributionDemonstrate knowledge of standard repair procedures for typical nonconformance occurrencesCompile NCR Stress Reports documenting incidents, stress substantiation, assessment results, and approvals for acceptance or repairWork face-to-face with operators, quality, and manufacturing teams on the production floorTake ownership and push dispositions through to completion without waiting for information to come to youBachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Materials Engineering5+ years of stress engineering experienceDedicated MRB experience in aerospace structures - this is non-negotiableStrong understanding of composite structures (80% of aircraft is composite)Knowledge of aircraft structures, design guidelines, composite and metallic failure modesExperience with stress analysis reports and structural substantiationProficiency with Nastran (solver) and Patran (post-processing)Ability to perform both hand calculations and FEAExcellent communication skills to interface with cross-functional teamsSelf-starter with proactive, ownership-driven mindsetWillingness to work staggered shifts (e.g., Tuesday-Saturday or Sunday-Thursday)Why This Role Stands OutJoining a company with real flight timeOn track for being the first fully certified electric aircraftBe the person who "saves the day" - your decisions directly unblock production and keep aircraft moving toward deliveryWork on cutting-edge electric aircraft with 80% composite primary structures, including fully bonded wingsJoin a young, dynamic company where you're expected to be present, engaged, and collaborative - not hidden behind a screenFast-paced environment where your MRB experience is valued and critical - not the slow, methodical certification-focused paceFace-to-face collaboration with operators, quality, and manufacturing on the production floorRamping production environment with real impact on aircraft certification and customer deliveriesMission-driven team focused on sustainable aviation and environmental impact
