L5

vivantFarmers Branch, TXyesterday
Location: Farmers Branch, TX (Dallas–Fort Worth Area)
Job Type: Full-Time
Work Location: On-site
Travel: Approximately 25% (primarily local DFW with occasional out-of-market travel)
This is not a job for someone who needs a supervisor on the phone. When a restaurant calls 30 minutes before opening and says "the internet's down" or "the phones don't work," you're the one who walks in, finds out why, fixes it, and tells us what happened. If you'd rather call someone and wait, this isn't the role for you.
What You’ll Do: Own the site. Once you're dispatched, the problem is yours until it's fixed, or until you've proven exactly where the fault is (ISP circuit, carrier, hosted voice provider) and gotten that party moving. Troubleshoot from symptom to root cause. "No internet": check the circuit, the modem/ONT, the router WAN, the switch, DHCP/DNS, and cabling. "Phones down": check power/PoE, VLANs, registration, firewall/SIP, and the carrier. Isolate in order. Don't guess. Build and install: MDF/IDF racks, routers, switches, patch panels, WAPs, cameras, VoIP phones, POS, digital menu boards, audio, and access control. Cable: pull, terminate, test, and label Cat5e/Cat6 and coax. Extend circuits from the DMARC/MPOE. Terminate on 66/110 blocks. Close out before you leave the site: photos, notes, and a plain-English summary of what was wrong, what you did, and what's still open. What ownership means here: You call the ISP yourself, open the ticket, and push for an ETA. You don't wait for the office to do it. If something's missing on site, you find a way to solve it. You don't drive home. You escape for three reasons only: Safety A change in scope or cost You've run out of troubleshooting steps and can say exactly what you've ruled out. "It's not working" is not an escalation. You tell us about your own mistakes before we find them. 3+ years of commercial low-voltage field experience 2+ years hands-on configuring and troubleshooting routers, switches, and wireless (not just mounting them) Hands-on VoIP phone troubleshooting Working knowledge of static/DHCP addressing, VLANs, ping, traceroute, ipconfig, and basic router/switch configuration MPOE/DMARC experience, 66/110 blocks, and phone wiring Your own tools: drill, toner, cable tester, crimpers, punch-down, butt set, multimeter, label maker, ladder, basic hand tools Reliable vehicle, valid driver's license, and a cellphone High school diploma or equivalent Not a fit if You need step-by-step direction to finish a job Your troubleshooting stops at "reboot it and call it in" You've pulled cable but never configured network gear You can't do occasional evenings, weekends, or overnight travel Schedule Monday-Friday, typically 8:00 AM–5:00 PM Some projects run late or need weekend work Mostly DFW, with about 25% travel outside the market Pay and Bonus $25–$40/hr, based on experience. $1,500 bonus after 90 days for: Hitting your KPIs No unapproved absences Completing installs on schedule, per the SOW and our standards Healthcare, recognition and rewards, company events, and a real path to promotion.
