Senior Musical Instrument Retail Sales Associate

Music & Arts is seeking a part-time Senior Sales Associate to support our mission of advancing music education. In this role, you’ll lead customer service on the sales floor, guiding students, parents, and educators to the right band and orchestra instruments, rentals, accessories, and lessons. You will open and close the store, handle POS transactions, manage rentals, support merchandising, and train junior staff. You’ll collaborate with school service reps, help meet sales goals, and ensure an inclusive, student-focused environment aligned with our community and performance culture. Provide knowledgeable, student-focused sales support for instruments, rentals, accessories, and lessons Deliver excellent customer service to students, parents, and educators Process sales, rentals, and returns using POS systems accurately Open and close the store, following cash handling and security procedures Support visual merchandising, stocking, and inventory organization Help train and mentor junior sales associates on products and service standards Collaborate with school service representatives to support local school programs Actively drive sales to meet or exceed store goals and KPIs Promote lessons, rental programs, and repair services to customers Maintain a clean, welcoming, and inclusive store environment Retail sales Customer service Point-of-sale (POS) systems Cash handling Product knowledge – musical instruments Merchandising Inventory management basics Sales techniques and upselling Lesson and rental program enrollment Communication and interpersonal skills Retail sales or customer service experience in music or specialty retail preferred Basic knowledge of band and orchestra instruments strongly preferred Point-of-sale and cash-handling experience Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed
