- Join our Kankakee, IL team on a Monday–Friday, first-shift schedule to keep a school bus fleet safe, compliant, and road-ready. You'll handle everything from basic maintenance to full rebuilds — and you'll be the go-to for electrical, HVAC, and accessibility systems.
What you'll do:
Service and repair gasoline/diesel buses: routine maintenance, minor fixes, and complete vehicle service.
Diagnose faults and run a disciplined preventive maintenance program.
Perform engine and transmission overhauls (major/minor).Maintain/repair brakes, air compressors, fuel & ignition systems, HVAC, and wheelchair lifts.
Service vehicle A/C systems and execute DOT-compliant inspections and repairs on school buses.
Record time and materials for all work performed.
Preferred background:
Medium-duty bus expertise; International Truck/Bus experience a plus.
Bring your own tools.
Knowledge of pupil transportation regulations and IDOT inspections. CDL Class B with air brake endorsement preferred. A/C Certification preferred.
Strong verbal/written communication for internal and external stakeholders.
Proven under deadline pressure; positive, customer-first mindset.
Independent worker who completes assignments on time.
