Seasonal Service Worker

General Laborer Under general direction of the Assistant Foreman, performs general laborer duties throughout the City as assigned. This is a part-time employment position. Dismount garbage truck to pick up and empty garbage, place refuse and recycle materials into back of refuse truck. Remount truck to ride to the next collection point. Mow and edge lawns, using power mowers and edgers. Dump, spread, and tamp asphalt to repair joints and patch broken pavement. Flag motorists to warn them of obstacles or repair work ahead. Set out signs and cones around work areas to divert traffic. Gather and remove litter from roadway and ditches. Maintain sewers by cleaning and clearing debris from culverts, catch basins, ditches, and other drain structures. Clean and paint buildings; wash vehicles. The ability to exert maximum force to lift, push, pull or carry objects. The ability to bend, stretch twist or reach with your body, arms and/or legs. Ability to follow simple oral and/or written instructions. Develop constructive and cooperative working relations with others. While performing the duties of this job, the individual is regularly required to reach with hands and arms. The individual frequently is required to stand and/or walk and to use hands to handle, finger, feel or operate objects, tools or controls. The individual is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The individual will be required to speak and hear with regard to receiving supervision and communicating with the general public. The individual must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally will move and/or lift more than 100 pounds. Ability to work out of doors for long periods of time in all weather conditions. This position requires exposure to all weather conditions 95% of the time. 5% of the work is indoors. Safety is imperative and safety vest are to be worn at all times due the proximity of moving vehicles. Travel throughout the City. While performing the duties of this job, the individual frequently works near moving mechanical parts and tools that may cause bodily injury. In the field exposure to outside weather conditions for sustained periods is possible. The individual occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, noxious odors, dusts, mists, gases, toxic or caustic chemicals and poor ventilation that affect the respiratory system, eyes or the skin. This individual is occasionally exposed to risk of electric shock. The noise level in the work environment is moderately noisy to noisy. No experience required.
