Staff Software Engineer - Infrastructure

The Role: This is not a traditional Dev Ops or SRE role. They’re looking for a senior/staff engineer who is genuinely strong in Infrastructure / Platform Engineering, but is also a real software engineer and coder. You should be comfortable going beyond writing scripts or Terraform and be able to understand and contribute to the application layer, backend systems and application architecture. You’ll work across: AWS & cloud infrastructure Terraform / Infrastructure as Code Docker & containerised environmentsCI/CD & developer tooling Platform / Developer Experience Databases & distributed systems Application architecture and backend engineering Reliability, observability and security You’ll help build internal platforms that abstract infrastructure complexity away from product engineers, improve how teams develop and deploy software, and influence the architecture and technical direction of systems operating at significant scale.

What We’re Looking For: 8+ years of software, infrastructure or platform engineering experience Strong Infrastructure / Platform Engineering background Excellent AWS and Terraform/IaC experience Strong understanding of distributed systems, CI/CD, Docker and production infrastructure Strong coding ability in Ruby or Python — this is important; they need someone who is a software engineer, not an infrastructure engineer who occasionally writes scripts Genuine understanding of application architecture and backend systems Experience building internal platforms, developer tooling or infrastructure that enables product engineering teams Staff-level ability to influence architecture and technical direction without direct authority Experience with payments, financial infrastructure or high-volume transactional systems is a bonus, but isn't essential. Remote across the US, with hybrid options in NYC or San Francisco.

Compensation: up to $250K base + equity.
