Bring Clinical Expertise to a Growing Behavioral Health TeamReNew Life Recovery Services is seeking a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to join our growing integrated behavioral health and substance use treatment team in Danville, Virginia.
This role is ideal for a psychiatric provider who wants to work collaboratively, provide high-quality medication management, and play an important role in the development of expanding outpatient, IOP, PHP, and co-occurring mental health and substance use services.
The current Virginia average for PMHNP compensation is about $150,000 annually, so this range is intentionally positioned slightly above average to attract strong candidates.

What You Will DoConduct psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments
Provide medication management and ongoing psychiatric follow-up
Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications within scope of practice
Monitor medication effectiveness, side effects, and treatment response
Collaborate with therapists, substance use counselors, nurses, QMHPs, peer recovery specialists, and clinical leadership
Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning and case consultation
Support individuals with mental health, substance use, and co-occurring conditions
Provide consultation related to psychiatric symptoms, medication needs, and level-of-care concerns
Assist with crisis evaluation and stabilization planning when clinically appropriate
Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation
Coordinate with outside medical and behavioral health providers when needed
Support continuity of care and safe transitions between levels of treatment
Maintain compliance with applicable Virginia licensing, prescribing, DBHDS, DMAS, DEA, and CARF requirements
What We Are Looking ForCurrent Virginia APRN license appropriate for psychiatric practice
Current Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner certification
Current prescribing authority appropriate to the position
Current DEA registration or ability to obtain one
Graduate degree from an accredited nurse practitioner program
2-5 years of psychiatric or behavioral health experience preferred
Experience conducting psychiatric evaluations and medication-management visits
Strong clinical judgment and documentation skills
Excellent communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
We Would Especially Like to Meet You If You Have Experience treating co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders
Addiction psychiatry or medication-assisted treatment experience
IOP and/or PHP experience
Adult and adolescent psychiatric experience
Virginia DBHDS program experience
Virginia Medicaid or DMAS experience
Experience working in an integrated behavioral health setting
Telepsychiatry experience
CARF-accredited program experience
Compensation$155,000-$175,000 annually
Compensation will be based on experience, credentials, prescribing background, behavioral health and substance use experience, and overall qualifications.
For reference, recent Virginia PMHNP compensation data are averaging roughly $150,000 annually, with substantial variation based on location, experience, and practice setting.
