A leading regional healthcare system in central Vermont is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Physiatrist to join its rehabilitation and musculoskeletal service line in Rutland, Vermont. This role offers a blend of outpatient musculoskeletal care, neuro-rehabilitation, electrodiagnostics, and inpatient rehabilitation consults, working alongside a multidisciplinary team that includes physical therapists, occupational therapists, orthopedists, pain management specialists, and neurologists.
Schedule:
Full-time, permanent. Monday through Friday, with a shared call rotation. Includes outpatient and inpatient consult responsibilities.
Compensation: $280,000 to $320,000 per year
What You'll Do:
The Physiatrist provides clinical evaluation, diagnosis, and non-surgical management for patients with acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions, spinal disorders, stroke, traumatic brain injury, and other neurological conditions. This includes performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as electrodiagnostic testing (EMG/NCS), peripheral and soft tissue joint injections, and ultrasound-guided interventions.
This role conducts inpatient rehabilitation consultations, oversees personalized functional recovery plans, and directs interdisciplinary care conferences with physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, and nursing staff. The Physiatrist manages medical and rehabilitation regimens, prescribes durable medical equipment, coordinates post-acute care transitions, and maintains clinical documentation in the health system's electronic health record. The role also participates in quality improvement initiatives, safety protocols, and patient satisfaction programs.
Required Qualifications:
Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution
Completion of an ACGME-accredited Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency program
Board Certified or Board Eligible in PM&R
Active, unrestricted Vermont medical license (or eligible for state licensure)
Active DEA registration and Vermont Controlled Substance License (CSR)
Strong clinical skills in general physiatry, musculoskeletal care, and electrodiagnostics
Preferred Qualifications:
Subspecialty interest or experience in spine, sports medicine, or stroke rehabilitation
