Employment Type: Full-Time | ExemptAbout UsJND eDiscovery is a Relativity Platinum Partner and an industry leader in deploying innovative solutions to the industry's most complex problems. We deliver full EDRM lifecycle eDiscovery services to a distinguished client base that includes top 100 Law Firms, Fortune 500 companies, and government agencies. We exclusively provide services through the RelativityOne ecosystem. Joining JND means becoming part of a forward-thinking, technology-driven team that is passionate about delivering exceptional services and strategic guidance to our clients. If you thrive in a dynamic, collaborative, fast-paced environment where cutting-edge technology meets defensibility of process, this is the opportunity for you.
Position Overview: The eDiscovery Solutions Engineer is a hybrid, high-autonomy role for a curious and relentless problem solver possessing deep RelativityOne mastery, comprehensive analytical skills, and strong scripting abilities. This individual can navigate extremely complex data challenges – potentially involving abnormal, non-standard, proprietary, or malformed data types - and engineer ways to parse, convert, and interpret the data to facilitate review and defensible production. Moving fluidly between possible approaches, the Solutions Engineer determines how unfamiliar data is structured and constructs new workflows accordingly. This is a role for a self-directed problem solver: someone who is energized by data challenges and has the determination to see the situation through to a working solution. The ideal candidate can diagnose, script, and validate solutions with minimal guidance or oversight, and takes genuine pride in solving problems no one else has.
Key Responsibilities: Complex Data Analysis & Problem Solving
  • Investigate and reverse-engineer abnormal, non-standard, proprietary, or malformed data types and file formats to determine how they are structured and how to work with them
  • Develop methods to parse, extract, transform, convert, and normalize complex or unusual data so it can be processed, reviewed, and produced within the RelativityOne ecosystem
  • Analyze large, messy datasets to isolate important elements
  • Diagnose data anomalies such as encoding issues, corruption, unusual structures, etc., engineering practical, defensible solutions
  • Tackle the data problems that stall standard workflows, developing tailored approaches where no established process exists Scripting & Automation
  • Write scripts (e.g., Python, PowerShell, etc.) to parse, convert, and analyze complex data and to automate repetitive or high-volume data tasks
  • Build repeatable, scripted workflows to handle recurring abnormal-data scenarios and improve processing and review efficiency
  • Apply scripting and automation to strengthen data culling, quality control, and reporting across the EDRM
  • Leverage RelativityOne capabilities and utilize its APIs to extend and automate data workflows
  • Document scripts, methods, and technical processes so solutions are repeatable, defensible, and shareable with the teame Discovery Data Analysis & Execution
  • Manage the end-to-end eDiscovery data lifecycle across the EDRM, including processing, review setup, data culling, reporting, and production
  • Utilize RelativityOne to organize, analyze, and report on large, complex datasets, ensuring data integrity and defensibility of process
  • Apply advanced analytics, TAR, and AI-driven workflows to improve review efficiency and outcomes
  • Perform quality-control checks on data and deliverables to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues within RelativityOne and other eDiscovery tools Independent Problem Solving & Innovation
  • Proactively identify data challenges and opportunities for better approaches without guidance
  • Own problems end-to-end, from diagnosing the challenge, to scripting an approach, to testing and delivering a working solution
  • Serve as a go-to technical resource for the analyst and solutions teams for the hardest and most ambiguous data problems
  • Stay current with emerging eDiscovery technologies, data formats, and technology trends, and bring new techniques back to the team Skills and Competencies
  • Expert-level RelativityOne knowledge, including administration, analytics, and workflow design
  • Strong scripting ability (e.g., Python, PowerShell) oriented toward data parsing, transformation, and automation
  • A knack for looking at unfamiliar or abnormal data and figuring out its structure, format, and how to interpret it
  • Deep understanding of data formats, file encoding, metadata, and the eDiscovery data lifecycle across the EDRM
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the judgment to separate what matters from the noise
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders
  • A self-starter with exceptional determination and initiative — comfortable operating with little to no oversight
  • Genuinely excited about solving data problems no one else has solved, with the drive and follow-through to see a solution through to completion
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, evolving, and highly-autonomous environment
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of combined experience in eDiscovery data analysis and/or data engineering at a vendor, law firm, or in-house
  • Relativity Certified Administrator (RCA), with at least 3 years using Relativity at an administrator level
  • Demonstrated experience using scripting to parse, transform, or analyze complex data within eDiscovery or legal-technology environments
  • Bachelor's degree in Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Legal Studies, or a related field
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Relativity Expert or Relativity Master certification
  • Experience working with unusual, proprietary, or non-standard data types and file formats, including data conversion and normalization
  • Understanding of TAR and/or AI principles, including generative-AI workflows
  • Familiarity with databases, regular expressions, structured and unstructured data, and large-scale data processing
  • Strong understanding of litigation support, legal workflows, and data governance
