Substation Control Designer 2/ 4P104

Key Responsibilities: Prepare engineering drawings, specifications, and material requirements for substation projects with a focus on safety, quality, scheduling, and cost management. Ensure safety is a top priority, using a safety-first mentality in all tasks. Deliver high-quality design packages with exceptional productivity. Provide technical expertise and guidance for less experienced design personnel. Support Substation Field Services, Project Management, and other project stakeholders. Coordinate and communicate effectively with associated departments. Uphold Southern Company’s design criteria and standardization efforts. Contribute to storm restoration efforts as needed.

Travel Requirements: Approximately 25% travel is required for this position. Required Skills and Expertise: Basic discipline knowledge and problem-solving skills. Ability to make independent decisions based on procedures, with supervisory review as needed. Proficiency in Control Design tools and applications, including: AutoCAD Electrical TEAMS Stomps SCST Vault Maximo Strong work ethic and a positive attitude. Ability to build effective relationships with plant staff, design engineering teams, and vendors.
