Description:
American Traveler is hiring a Behavioral Health RN for a night shift position requiring at least 2 years of psychiatric nursing experience and a WI or compact RN license. Details Behavioral Health unit within a Magnet-designated teaching hospital Night shift schedule with 8 and 12-hour shifts, including 1500-2330, 1900-0730, and 2300-0730 Weekend rotation and holiday coverage as needed Patient ratio of 1:4Primary responsibilities do not include medication distribution Floating required as needed Uses Epic charting system
Requirements:
- Active WI or compact RN license requiredBLS certification required (AHA only)
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Behavioral Health RN required
- Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in the specialty required
- Previous charge nurse experience required
- Epic EMR experience required, ideally within the past 12 months
- Experience with psychiatric medication administration and crisis intervention techniques
- Experience caring for patients with psychiatric disorders including bipolar, PTSD, and substance use
- Must pass a telemetry exam with strict scoring criteria prior to startCPI certification preferred
- Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I experience preferred
Additional Information:
- Provide direct patient care in a locked inpatient psychiatric unit, including de-escalation and crisis intervention
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for the travel rate; local candidates not accepted
- Responsibilities include managing patients with conditions such as schizophrenia-spectrum disorders, self-injurious behavior, and suicidal behavior
- Familiarity with seclusion protocols, emergent chemical restraints, and physical hold procedures preferred
- First-time travelers are not being considered for this role
