Position Summary: WM Industrial is seeking an experienced Outside Sales Representative to develop and grow sales within the mining, mineral processing, power generation, and heavy industrial markets. This is a technical, field-focused sales position for an individual who is comfortable working directly with plant personnel, maintenance departments, engineers, purchasing teams, and operations management. The successful candidate should have working knowledge of industrial process equipment and be capable of walking customer facilities, understanding applications, identifying equipment and process needs, and developing those opportunities into long-term customer relationships and sales. Experience with pumps, valves, filtration, flotation equipment, cyclones, piping systems, and related process equipment is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities: Develop new business within the assigned territory, with a primary focus on mining, mineral processing, power generation, and heavy industrial facilities. Maintain and expand relationships with existing WM Industrial customers. Conduct regular in-person customer visits, plant visits, and site evaluations. Actively identify new customers, projects, applications, and sales opportunities. Work directly with maintenance, reliability, operations, engineering, and purchasing personnel. Understand customer processes and recommend appropriate equipment, replacement parts, upgrades, and solutions. Generate opportunities for pumps, pump parts, valves, filtration equipment, flotation equipment and components, cyclones, and other industrial process equipment. Identify installed equipment during plant visits and recognize opportunities for aftermarket replacement parts and alternative equipment solutions. Obtain field information including equipment details, operating conditions, dimensions, photographs, nameplate information, and other information necessary to prepare quotations. Assist customers with equipment selection and application requirements. Prepare and follow up on quotations and proposals. Maintain consistent communication with customers throughout the sales process. Follow projects from initial opportunity through quotation, purchase order, delivery, and post-sale follow-up. Develop relationships with contractors, engineering firms, OEMs, distributors, and other organizations serving the territory. Monitor competitive activity and provide feedback regarding competitor products, pricing, and market conditions. Coordinate with WM Industrial's internal sales, engineering, sourcing, and manufacturing partners to develop customer solutions. Maintain an active sales pipeline and provide regular reporting on customer visits, opportunities, quotations, and projected sales. Represent WM Industrial professionally at customer locations, industry events, trade shows, and meetings. Product & Industry Knowledge Candidates should have experience with or a strong working knowledge of several of the following: Centrifugal and slurry pumpsANSI process pumps Pump replacement and aftermarket parts Industrial valves Slurry and process piping Filtration systems and equipment Flotation cells and flotation equipment Rotors, stators, dispersers, and related flotation components Hydrocyclones and cyclone components Mineral processing equipment Wear-resistant components Rubber, urethane, and abrasion-resistant products Industrial maintenance and reliability applications Familiarity with equipment commonly used in mining, mills, concentrators, processing plants, power plants, and other heavy industrial facilities is strongly preferred
Qualifications: Previous outside sales experience in mining, mineral processing, power generation, industrial equipment, or a related field preferred. Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to understand industrial equipment and applications. Ability to recognize and discuss pumps, valves, filtration, flotation, cyclones, and related process equipment. Comfortable entering and walking industrial and mine sites and communicating with personnel at all levels of an organization. Proven ability to develop new accounts rather than relying solely on an existing customer base. Strong communication, relationship-building, and negotiation skills. Self-motivated and capable of managing a territory with limited day-to-day supervision. Ability to organize customer visits, follow-ups, quotations, and multiple active opportunities. Basic computer proficiency, including email, spreadsheets, CRM systems, and preparation of sales reports. Valid driver's license and ability to travel regularly throughout the assigned territory. Ability to meet customer and site-specific safety requirements. MSHA training or previous mine-site experience is a plus.
Preferred Experience: Preference will be given to candidates with established experience and relationships within: Hard-rock mining Copper, gold, silver, and other mineral processing operations Aggregate and industrial mineral operations Concentrators and flotation plants Power generation facilities Pump and rotating-equipment distributors Industrial maintenance and reliability organizations Engineering and construction firms serving mining and heavy industry An existing network of contacts within the assigned territory is highly desirable. CompensationWM Industrial offers a competitive compensation package consisting of base salary plus performance-based commission, with compensation structured to reward territory development, new account growth, and profitable sales.
