Hopedale Medical Complex is seeking an onsite Benefits & Payroll Specialist to join our Human Resources team. This position plays an important role in supporting our employees throughout their employment with HMC and works closely with the HR Manager and HR team in the day-to-day administration of employee benefits, payroll, onboarding, and employee records. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, building relationships with employees through in-person interaction, problem-solving, and balancing employee service with detail-oriented administrative work. This position requires regular face-to-face interaction with employees and Human Resources team, including in-person meetings, employee support, New Employee Orientation, and other HR-related activities. The successful candidate should be comfortable working directly with people and being present and engaged as part of the HMC Human Resources team. Schedule, Compensation & Work Arrangement Full-Time Monday-Friday $28.00-$34.00 per hour, based on qualifications and experience Onsite position located at Hopedale Medical Complex in Hopedale, Illinois This position is not remote and does not offer a work-from-home option. Candidates must be able to reasonably commute to the HMC campus and report onsite as scheduled.
What You'll Do:
In this role, you will: Provide onsite, day-to-day Human Resources support to employees and managers. Coordinate and conduct in-person New Employee Orientation and assist new employees throughout the onboarding process. Assist employees with benefit enrollment, qualifying life events, coverage changes, and routine benefit questions. Support administration of HMC's medical, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement, and other employee benefit programs. Assist with annual Open Enrollment and benefit communications. Assist with preparation and processing of HMC's biweekly payroll. Review payroll and timekeeping information for accuracy and help resolve discrepancies. Maintain employee information related to new hires, pay changes, department changes, bonuses, deductions, leave, and separations. Respond to routine payroll questions and assist employees with understanding payroll and benefit information. Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and HR documentation. Assist with leave, vacation, sick time, and employment-status records. Prepare routine HR, benefits, payroll, staffing, turnover, and leave reports. Help identify opportunities to improve HR, benefits, and payroll processes. Serve as a welcoming, professional, and confidential resource for HMC employees.
What We're Looking For:
We're looking for someone who is: Highly organized and detail-oriented. Dependable and comfortable taking ownership of assigned responsibilities. Accurate when working with numbers, employee records, benefits, and payroll information. Comfortable learning and working in HR and payroll systems. Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook. An effective written and verbal communicator. Approachable and committed to providing excellent customer service. Able to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound judgment. Comfortable managing multiple priorities and deadlines. A problem-solver who isn't afraid to research an issue and ask questions. Able to work independently while also being part of a collaborative HR team.
Qualifications:
Required High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to work onsite at Hopedale Medical Complex and reasonably commute to the Hopedale campus as scheduled. This position is not eligible for remote or work-from-home employment. Strong computer and Microsoft Office skills. Strong organizational, communication, customer-service, and problem-solving skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and work accurately with sensitive employee and compensation information. Previous experience in Human Resources, payroll, benefits, administration, accounting, or a related field. Experience with Paycor, Employee Navigator, or a similar HR, payroll, or benefits platform. Experience supporting or processing payroll. Experience with employee benefit administration, enrollment, or Open Enrollment. Preferred Experience working with self-funded health plans. Experience with employee leave or timekeeping administration. Healthcare or other professional office experience. Experience working with insurance brokers. Why Hopedale Medical Complex?
