Vision Technologies is seeking AV Service Technician to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial audio-visual systems. In this customer-facing role, you will support reliable operation of audio, video, control, conferencing, and network-connected AV technologies. We are considering candidates at the entry, experienced, and senior levels. Placement at Technical I, II, or III will reflect your experience, technical skills, certifications, and ability to independently support complex customer environments.
What You’ll Do:
Troubleshooting & Repair Perform break-fix service, preventive maintenance, and warranty support for commercial AV systems. Diagnose faults across control systems, audio, video, conferencing platforms, digital signal processors (DSPs), switching equipment, and network-connected devices. Restore system functionality within established service-level agreements (SLAs).Identify the root causes of recurring issues and recommend permanent corrective actions. Make programming adjustments and minor configuration changes as needed to restore functionality. Verify system operation and complete functional testing following repairs. Preventive Maintenance & Technical Support Perform system inspections, firmware updates, software maintenance, and system health checks according to manufacturer recommendations. Coordinate materials, return merchandise authorizations (RMAs), and manufacturer technical support with internal support resources. Identify opportunities for equipment replacement, upgrades, and service improvements, sharing recommendations with the Service Manager and Account Executive. Maintain company tools, test equipment, and service vehicles in safe, professional condition. Customer Service & Documentation Keep customers informed of system status, repair progress, and next steps. Document work performed, test results, photographs, recommendations, and labor accurately in the ticketing system. Prioritize service requests and respond promptly to emergency calls to minimize customer downtime. Participate in an on-call rotation and provide after-hours support when required. Follow company safety policies and customer site security requirements. Qualifications by Level Technical I – Entry Level
Experience:
1–3 years supporting commercial AV systems Perform preventive maintenance and basic break-fix work with guidance. Troubleshoot displays, projectors, microphones, speakers, and cameras. Understand basic AV signal flow and common conference room technologies. Replace defective hardware and cables. Apply basic networking knowledge, including IP addressing, Power over Ethernet (PoE), and switches. Read basic drawings and technical documentation. Recognize when to escalate complex issues. Preferred certifications and training: AVIXA CTS, manufacturer online training, and basic safety certifications. Technical II – Experienced Technician
Experience:
3–6 years of commercial AV service experience Independently support enterprise customers and perform advanced troubleshooting with minimal supervision. Diagnose hardware, software, and network-related AV faults. Support DSP systems, control systems, and video conferencing platforms. Perform firmware upgrades and configuration changes. Troubleshoot AV-over-IP systems. Read and interpret system schematics. Complete commissioning-level testing following repairs. Mentor junior technicians. Preferred certifications and training: AVIXA CTS or CTS-I, Crestron P201/P301, Q-SYS Level 1, and Extron certifications. Technical III – Senior Technical Specialist
Experience:
7+ years of enterprise AV engineering and service experience Serve as a subject matter expert and escalation resource across multiple AV technologies. Perform advanced diagnostics and root cause analysis in complex enterprise environments. Complete advanced DSP tuning, control system diagnostics, and system modifications. Troubleshoot AV network architecture and support large rooms and divisible spaces. Coordinate complex technical escalations with manufacturers. Mentor technicians and share technical knowledge. Support equipment lifecycle recommendations and technical standards. Preferred certifications and training: AVIXA CTS-I or CTS-D, advanced Crestron certifications, Q-SYS Level 2, advanced Biamp certifications, and advanced networking certifications.
