Optical Lab Technician- CNC

Position Overview: A precision optical manufacturing organization is seeking a Surface Lab Technician to support digital lens production. In this role, you will be at the heart of our production process, transforming semi-finished lens blanks into precision-engineered prescription lenses using advanced digital surfacing technology. This hands-on role operates advanced CNC and automated equipment to transform semi-finished lens blanks into precision prescription lenses while maintaining strict quality standards.

Key Responsibilities: Prepare lens blanks for processing through blocking, generating, polishing, and de-blocking operations. Operate and monitor CNC generators and automated polishing equipment to produce precision lens surfaces. Perform laser engraving and ensure accurate placement of required lens identification markings. Safely de-block, clean, and prepare finished lenses for downstream coating processes. Inspect lenses for scratches, pits, waves, and other defects using lensometers and specialized lighting. Follow job-ticket specifications, production procedures, and quality requirements with a high degree of accuracy. Perform basic equipment monitoring, adjustments, and calibration-related tasks as required. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe production environment.

Qualifications: Strong mechanical and technical aptitude with the ability to operate computer-controlled equipment. High attention to detail and ability to handle delicate optical materials. Basic math skills, including algebra, decimals, and reading numerical specifications. Ability to stand for extended periods and work effectively in a fast-paced production environment. Previous optical laboratory, CNC, or precision manufacturing experience preferred. Willingness to learn and train on specialized optical manufacturing processes.
