This position will focus on the design, modification, and development of precision mechanical tooling used within custom industrial equipment. Much of the work involves adapting proven designs for new customer applications, while also solving unique mechanical challenges and contributing to future tooling improvements. The company primarily uses SolidWorks and is looking for someone with strong mechanical design fundamentals, attention to detail, and the ability to develop accurate, manufacturable designs. This is a great fit for an engineer who enjoys hands-on problem-solving, working with detailed mechanical components, and taking ownership of their designs from concept through implementation.
Responsibilities:
  • Design and modify precision tooling, mechanical components, and assemblies using SolidWorksAdapt existing tooling designs for new customer applications and requirements
  • Develop detailed 3D models, assemblies, and manufacturing-ready drawings
  • Apply GD&T, tolerance analysis, and mechanical engineering principles to ensure proper fit, function, and reliability
  • Perform mechanical calculations and evaluate design considerations such as loads, materials, clearances, and component interactions
  • Design precision machined components with manufacturability, cost, and assembly in mind
  • Troubleshoot mechanical design challenges and identify opportunities to improve existing tooling
  • Create and maintain engineering documentation, drawings, and BOMsCollaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and project teams to support successful equipment development
  • Support testing, validation, and continuous improvement of tooling designs
  • Manage multiple design projects while maintaining accuracy and meeting project requirements
  • Contribute to the development of new and improved tooling solutions
Qualifications:
  • Approximately 3–5+ years of mechanical design, tooling design, product design, or related experience preferred
  • Strong working proficiency in SolidWorksExperience designing detailed mechanical components and assemblies, particularly precision machined parts
  • Strong understanding of mechanical tolerances, GD&T, and manufacturing processes
  • Ability to apply mechanical engineering fundamentals and calculations to real-world design challenges
  • Experience producing accurate, manufacturing-ready engineering drawings
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to independently troubleshoot mechanical design issues
  • Comfortable working from established designs and standards while identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred; equivalent practical design experience will also be considered
  • Preferred Experience
  • Precision tooling, fixtures, jigs, or workholding systems
  • High-tolerance mechanical components and assemblies
  • Tolerance stack-up analysis and mechanical design calculations
  • Custom machinery, industrial equipment, or engineered products
  • Mechanical mechanisms, clamping systems, or related tooling applications
  • Design validation, testing, and troubleshooting
  • Autodesk Inventor experience
  • Why Consider This Opportunity?
  • This is an opportunity to join an established, highly successful engineering organization with a stable customer base and a strong pipeline of custom equipment projects.
  • The role offers a balance of detailed mechanical design, technical problem-solving, and opportunities to improve and develop tooling solutions. You'll work closely with experienced engineers while taking ownership of increasingly complex projects.
  • The company places a strong emphasis on developing its people, with opportunities to grow into more senior engineering responsibilities, explore other areas of mechanical engineering, or eventually move into applications engineering, project management, or leadership.
