Mule Driver - Houston, TXJob Summary Starting Pay: $19.00 per hour Schedule: 8-12 hour shifts with no set schedule - including day or night shifts and weekend shifts as needed Location: 14035 Industrial Rd., Houston, TX 77015The mule driver (also known as a Yard Jockey or Yard Tractor Operator) operates a specialized vehicle to move trailers on a dock, in yard, or warehouse, positioning them for loading and unloading. Their duties include safely maneuvering trailers, spotting them at docks, inspecting the vehicle, communicating with operations leadership and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the yard.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesObtains instructions from Superintendents and Clerks regarding work plansPerforms inspections to include conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the yard vehicle and trailers to insure they are safe and functionalMoves trailers safely and efficiently from staging areas to loading/unloading areasSpots trailers in accordance with operational plans to assist with efficient cargo movesCommunicates as needed in a clear concise manner with other team membersUtilizes chains and straps to secure items for transportRequired Safety Gear must be worn at all times to include Safety vest, safety glasses, steeled-toe shoes, and hard hats must be worn on terminal or in yard.Performs other duties as assignedQualificationsPrevious experience driving yard vehiclesAble to follow written and verbal instructions and complete tasks on timeAdheres to all safety protocols and promotes a clean, orderly work environmentPhysically able to bend, stoop, climb, twist, and lift up to 40 poundsAble to communicate clearly with team members, vendors, and customersAble to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, holidays, and an on-call basis as neededValid Driver LicenseTWIC Card or the ability to obtain oneEducation High School or GED equivalent
