Our client, a leading 4PL is hiring a Vice President of Strategy & Corporate Development to serve as a key strategic partner to the CEO and CFO. This high-visibility, hands-on individual contributor role is ideal for a sharp, self-directed professional who excels at solving complex problems across deal execution, financial planning, and strategic projects. The VP will own the company's M&A function end-to-end — from sourcing and screening acquisition candidates to leading diligence and supporting post-close integration — while simultaneously supporting the CFO's FP&A agenda and driving execution of key operational and business development initiatives across the company. Because this is an individual contributor role at hire, the ideal candidate must be a strong practitioner: capable of building models, writing memos, running processes, and delivering polished materials independently.
Key responsibilities: Acquisitions — Sourcing, Execution & Integration▸ Build and maintain a proprietary M&A pipeline Proactively identify, research, and cultivate acquisition targets aligned with strategic growth priorities▸ Manage banker and intermediary relationships Serve as the primary internal contact for M&A advisors, business brokers, and sell-side intermediaries▸ Lead financial analysis and valuation work Build LBO, DCF, and accretion/dilution models from scratch; develop transaction-level business cases for CEO and CFO review▸ Coordinate and execute due diligence processes Manage cross-functional diligence across finance, operations, legal, HR, and technology; synthesize findings into investment committee materials▸ Support deal structuring and negotiation Work alongside legal counsel and the CFO on LOI terms, purchase agreement negotiations, and closing mechanics▸ Support post-close integration Develop integration playbooks and track key milestones in partnership with operational leadershipFP&A & Financial Modeling▸ Support development and maintenance of the long-range financial plan Partner with the CFO to build and update a rolling 3–5 year integrated financial model▸ Develop scenario and sensitivity analyses Model the financial impact of strategic decisions including M&A, capital investment, pricing changes, and market scenarios▸ Produce executive and board-level financial presentations Build clear, polished materials in Power Point and Excel for CEO, CFO, and board reporting▸ Track and analyze KPIs Monitor financial and operational performance metrics; surface trends, variances, and actionable insights▸ Benchmark competitive and market performance Research public company comps, transaction multiples, and market dynamics to inform internal planning assumptions Strategic Initiatives▸ Project-manage priority business development and operational initiatives Drive execution of cross-functional projects on behalf of the CEO and CFO, from scoping through delivery▸ Support the annual strategic planning process Coordinate planning activities, synthesize inputs from functional leaders, and produce the strategic plan narrative▸ Conduct market and competitive research Develop well-reasoned points of view on end-market trends, customer dynamics, and competitive positioning▸ Prepare CEO and CFO for key external meetings Build pre-meeting briefings, one-pagers, and presentation materials for customer, partner, and investor interactions▸ Evaluate and advance new business development opportunities Analyze new service lines, customer segments, or geographic expansion concepts and develop actionable recommendationsIDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE4–8 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, management consulting, corporate strategy, or FP&A at a high-growth company Demonstrated M&A experience — including financial modeling, due diligence coordination, and deal execution Prior exposure to transportation and logistics Experience supporting or working alongside C-suite executives in a fast-paced operating environment Proven ability to manage complex projects independently from initiation through completionTECHNICAL SKILLSAdvanced Excel (LBO, DCF, 3-statement models)AI productivity tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot)Power Point (board- and executive-ready decks)Microsoft Word (memos, IC materials, integration docs)Financial forecasting & scenario modeling Outlook, Teams, and Microsoft 365 collaboration suiteM&A process management & data room coordination Market research & competitive benchmarkingKPI tracking and variance analysis Share Point or comparable document managementCOMPETENCIES & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTESSelf-directed and highly organized — comfortable managing multiple workstreams with minimal oversight Exceptional analytical rigor with strong financial modeling instincts Clear, concise communicator — able to translate complex analysis into crisp executive-level narratives Intellectually curious; quickly synthesizes new industries, business models, and markets Low ego, high output — a collaborative team player who rolls up their sleeves and gets things done Discretion and sound judgment in handling confidential deal and financial informationEDUCATIONBachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field requiredMBA from a top-tier program preferred but not required for exceptional candidates with the right experience
