The Opportunity: We collaborate with manufacturing firms in the Ann Arbor area that seek skilled Metrology Technicians. These organizations are dedicated to maintaining high standards and look for professionals who can contribute effectively. Usual Responsibilities: Maintain calibration records and tool traceability to national standards. Support quality audits by providing measurement documentation. Calibrate gauges, micrometers, calipers, and other measurement tools on a set schedule. Measure parts and assemblies to confirm they meet drawing tolerances. Record measurement data in logs and inspection reports. Run first article inspections at the start of production runs. Investigate out of tolerance parts and report findings to production and quality staff. Set up and operate coordinate measuring machines and optical comparators.
Recommended Qualifications: Attention to detail and consistent record keeping. Comfort working in a production floor environment. High school diploma or equivalent. Experience with precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and height gauges. Ability to read engineering drawings and interpret geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. Basic math skills including decimals and unit conversion.
Bonus Qualifications: Hands on experience programming or operating coordinate measuring machines. Familiarity with calibration software or quality management systems. ASQ Certified Calibration Technician or similar credential. Experience with GD&T per ASME Y14.5.Associate degree in metrology, quality, or a related technical field.
