JOB SUMMARY:
The Project Superintendent provides field supervision to ensure Westwood’s delivery of quality construction services toits clients by effectively managing all field project activities for jobs assigned to them. It is expected that assignedprojects will be completed safely, on time, and within approved budget ensuring the client’s expectations and company’sfinancial objectives are met. Failure to deliver these outcomes could result in diminished project quality, project delays, profit erosion, legal ramifications, lost credibility, physical injury or death, and loss of clientele. Adhering to companypolicies, procedures, and practices to support the company’s mission, vision, and values are key responsibilities to besuccessful in this role. This position is responsible for managing the execution of the contracted scope of work through multiple subcontracttradesmen, ensuring safety and compliance with the project plans and specifications. Achievement of the contractualproject schedule, quality, and financial goals are the paramount requirements of this position. Possessing and applyingthe required competencies necessary to meet all regulatory and licensing requirements of the project includingpermitting, building department inspections, utility coordination and landlord requirements are key competencies. The Project Superintendent will effectively communicate verbally and in writing to both internal and external contacts byproviding detailed written and photo documentation of project progress and quality on a regular basis using thecompany’s preferred formats to do so.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
The Project Superintendent must have advanced construction knowledge as it relates the currently appropriate meansand methods of all trades and in-depth familiarity of scope of work required for each assigned project. It is required thatthe individual demonstrate blueprint/plan reading expertise and be capable of supervising precisely accurate layout ofthe project site and the location of all improvements specified. They must also be proficient in utilizing existingconstruction management and productivity technology and be able to adapt to new and emerging ones. Effective verbaland written skills are important. The ability to effectively supervise and motivate a diverse group of subcontractresources to coordinate their work and achieve project objectives is a fundamental requirement of this position. Therole requires one to successfully handle interruptions and still produce accurate results through sound and detailedplanning, communication, and coordination of all trades. The ability to work within tight deadlines and manage highlevels of stress are crucial to keeping the job on schedule. JOB DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Supervise various construction projects to include: Read and understand plans and specifications.
100% Traveling to Nationwide Projects
Lead pre-construction meetings.
Oversee all field operations by being present during any on-site construction activity.
Establish and enforce the company’s onsite safety plan (including weekly safety meetings conductinginspections, addressing unsafe acts, and submitting safety reports).
Supervise the work of all trades to ensure adherence to contract plans and specifications, quality control, andcompliance with schedule.
Maintain open communication with all Westwood personnel and external contacts.
Complete a 4-week look ahead schedule and update weekly.
Maintain daily reports and provide quality photos as well as a description of the project’s progress to projectmanager for inclusion in weekly reports.
Initiation and coordination of all permitting and inspections by building department, landlord, and owner.
Drive a sense of urgency by all trades to ensure achievement of budget and schedule objectives.
Requirements:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
A college degree or professional certification preferred.
Must have a minimum of 7 years of experience in construction supervision.
OSHA 30 and CPR/Fist Aid is not requiredbut will be provided and must be obtained within the first 6 months of employment. Bilingual in Spanish is a highlydesirable attribute.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics are representative of the environment the employee will encounter whileperforming the essential functions of this job. A large number of diverse trade employees will typically be a part of the workspace at all times as will visits byoutside city, landlord and owner representatives When working in the field, the employee may also be exposed to wet, humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumesor airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposedto toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock and risk of vibration. The noise level in this work environment could be moderate to loud.

This position involves work at a construction site where duties will be performed both indoors and outdoorsand would be subject to environmental conditions.
Regularly required stand, walk, and/or sit. Must be capable of accessing all areas of the construction project topersonally visually observe the progress of the work.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
