Role Description: The CNC Operator – Custom Architectural Millwork is a full-time, on-site role based in West Bend, WI. In this position, the CNC Operator sets up, programs, and operates CNC machinery to produce custom millwork and casework components according to detailed drawings and specifications. Daily responsibilities include reading and interpreting shop drawings, selecting appropriate materials and tooling, monitoring machine operations, and performing quality checks to ensure accuracy and finish standards. The role involves routine machine maintenance, troubleshooting minor mechanical issues, and collaborating with production team members to meet project timelines and maintain workflow efficiency. The CNC Operator also supports continuous improvement efforts in safety, productivity, and material usage.
Qualifications: Technical CNC and woodworking skills: experience operating CNC routers or similar equipment, familiarity with millwork manufacturing, and ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and shop blueprints. Measurement and quality control skills: proficiency with measuring tools (tape measures, calipers, squares), attention to detail, and commitment to producing precise parts that meet quality standards. Mechanical and maintenance skills: basic mechanical aptitude for setting up machines, changing tooling, and performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting on CNC equipment. Production and safety skills: ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, follow safety procedures, handle materials safely, and maintain an organized work area. Communication and teamwork skills: ability to work collaboratively with supervisors, engineers, and shop staff, follow instructions, and communicate clearly about production issues or improvements.
Preferred qualifications: prior experience in architectural millwork or cabinet manufacturing, familiarity with CNC programming software, and knowledge of various wood species and sheet goods.
Education and experience: high school diploma or equivalent; relevant technical training or apprenticeship in CNC machining or woodworking is an asset.
