Overview: The Legislative Reference Bureau is a nonpartisan legislative support services agency that provides drafting services to the Illinois General Assembly.

Responsibilities: The staff attorneys are responsible for providing legal assistance necessary to prepare bills, amendments, resolutions, and other legislative documents for General Assembly members, legislative staff, state officers, officials, and others. Compensation Compensated annually at a starting salary of $76,000, with benefits including paid time off, pension plan participation, deferred compensation, health, vision, and dental insurance. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday–Friday; availability required for evenings, weekends, and holidays during certain times of the year.

Qualifications: Law degree and admission to (or eligibility for) the Illinois Bar.
