Backend Developer

Requirements: Strong hands-on experience building and maintaining production applications in Go, including REST APIs, structs and interfaces, context cancellation, error handling, and concurrency fundamentals. Experience connecting Go applications to relational databases using parameterized queries, connection pooling, transactions, and stored procedures. Strong SQL Server and T-SQL skills, including complex joins, stored procedures, indexing, execution plans, and query optimization. Understanding of data integrity, transaction boundaries, locking, and common causes of database performance issues. Experience working with existing systems by tracing behavior, assessing dependencies, and making changes without introducing regressions. Familiarity with API authentication, authorization, input validation, and secure application data handling. Experience using Git, pull requests, and collaborative code review. Ability to turn business requirements into maintainable technical solutions and identify when clarification is needed. Clear communication, systematic problem-solving, and accountability for the quality of delivered work. Familiarity with metadata-driven applications or systems where significant business logic is handled in stored procedures is preferred. Experience improving logging, observability, and production troubleshooting is preferred. Comfort working with VS Code and SQL Server Management Studio is preferred.

Responsibilities: Develop and maintain Go APIs, services, and integrations with a focus on reliability, performance, and maintainability. Write idiomatic, testable Go code with clear interfaces, appropriate error handling, and effective resource management. Design, develop, and optimize SQL Server stored procedures, queries, and transactions that support core business processes. Extend workflows linking API requests to database operations for retrieving, validating, and persisting data. Diagnose issues across API and database layers, identify root causes, and implement lasting fixes. Work with Product, front-end developers, designers, and QAT to clarify requirements and deliver complete features. Participate in peer code reviews, incorporate feedback constructively, and contribute to shared engineering standards. Take assigned features through development, QAT, UAT, and release, resolving defects promptly. Create and maintain technical documentation about implementation decisions, dependencies, and system behavior. Help expand automated testing and improve build, deployment, and monitoring practices. Communicate risks and dependencies early, collaborate with reviewers and testers, and help keep our growing platform maintainable.
