Job Description: Job Title: General Production Worker
Job Description: The General Production Worker supports day-to-day operations in a clean, food manufacturing facility by loading and packaging cheese products, inspecting finished goods, and maintaining a safe and orderly work area. This role involves manual labor, repetitive tasks, and close adherence to food safety, quality, and sanitation standards on evening and overnight shifts.
Responsibilities: Load cheese for packaging machines onto conveyors in a safe and efficient manner. Remove cheese from brine cages and prepare it for the next stage of production. Stack cheese boxes neatly on pallets so that finished goods fit into cooler racks without damage. Construct boxes and pack product into boxes according to production requirements. Remove packaging material from rejected cheese and prepare product for repackaging. Inspect product and packaging for foreign material and imperfections, and segregate any suspect product. Rerun suspect product through metal detectors and, if still unacceptable, document vat numbers and inform the supervisor. Perform cleaning and sanitation tasks as required to maintain plant equipment and production areas. Maintain work areas in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion throughout the shift. Assist in other production areas as needed to support overall plant operations. Assist in training new personnel by demonstrating proper procedures and safe work practices. Minimize water usage and the generation of wastewater within the scope of the position. Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and work in full compliance with corporate and regulatory food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, using equipment and tools correctly at all times. Essential Skills Ability to perform general production and manual labor tasks, including lifting and repetitive motions. Ability to carry out written and verbal instructions accurately. Ability to use simple writing, addition, subtraction, and multiplication. Ability to read, write, and speak English to understand safety, quality, and production instructions. Willingness to perform repetitive tasks in a production environment. Attention to detail when inspecting products and packaging for defects or foreign material. Commitment to following safety policies, GMPs, and food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements.
Additional Skills & Qualifications: High school diploma or GED preferred. No prior experience required; on-the-job training is provided. Experience in production, general labor, or manufacturing is a plus. Familiarity with machine operation and machine operating in a production setting is beneficial. Experience in packaging, packing, or assembly work is advantageous. Experience with inspection tasks in a manufacturing or food environment is helpful. Ability to use basic hand tools and a tape measure is a plus. Forklift experience is beneficial but not required. Ability to be hired based on resume demonstrating reliability and work ethic. Work Environment: This role is based in a food manufacturing facility that is very clean and operates under strict safety and sanitation procedures. You will work in a production setting around packaging machines, conveyors, and other manufacturing equipment. The position primarily runs on a Sunday Wednesday schedule from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., with the possibility of 8-hour shifts from 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. or 12:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m., depending on operational needs. The work involves labor and lifting, as well as repetitive tasks such as loading, stacking, and packing. Team members must follow all facility safety rules, food safety guidelines, and Good Manufacturing Practices while maintaining a neat and orderly work area. Appropriate attire for a food manufacturing environment, including any required protective gear, must be worn at all times. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Wilmington, PA.
Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $20.75 - $23.09/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
