Bindery Assistant

TSG – The Sheridan Group seeks a detail-oriented Bindery Assistant to support production of high-impact advocacy and communications materials. You will operate and monitor bindery equipment to fold, trim, collate, and finish printed pieces, following precise job specs and quality standards. Working closely with a small, collaborative team, you’ll help prepare and package materials for delivery on tight deadlines. This role offers hands-on experience in a fast-paced public affairs environment with strong mentorship and opportunities to grow technical production skills. Operate bindery equipment to assemble, trim, fold, and finish printed communications materials to specification Review job tickets and proofs to ensure accuracy, quality standards, and timely completion of client projects Set up, adjust, and perform basic maintenance on bindery machines, coordinating with vendors or technicians as needed Package, label, and prepare finished materials for delivery, ensuring correct quantities and documentation Collaborate with account and production teams to prioritize workloads and meet tight campaign and advocacy deadlines Maintain organized work areas, inventory of bindery supplies, and accurate production records Bindery equipment operation Print finishing and trimming Folding and collating techniques Quality control and inspection Reading job tickets and specs Basic machine maintenance Inventory and materials handling Packaging and labeling Time management under deadlines Workplace safety procedures Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k OSHA or other workplace safety training preferred Basic bindery or print production coursework a plus
