Massage Therapist - Johnstown

Overview: Salary Range $22.00 - $32.00 Hourly Position Type Part Time

Description: The YMCA of Northern Colorado is seeking a massage therapist to join our wellness team. You will support members' overall well-being and contribute to their quality of life. As a YMCA staff member, you'll provide excellent service to members in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. The Massage Therapist will apply a range of massage techniques to relieve pain in muscles, soft tissues, and other parts of the body. We offer a +10% differential for bilingual staff who test as fluent in Spanish and English.

Responsibilities: Perform massage therapy for YMCA members. Develop and propose client treatment plans that specify which types of massage are to be used. Consult with clients about their medical histories and any problems with stress and/or pain to determine whether massage would be helpful. Develops positive relationships with participants and provides motivational support and guidance. Increases participant awareness of all healthy lifestyle factors. Monitors care and maintenance of all program facilities and equipment with particular concern for the health and safety of participants and ensures repairs are made as needed. Ensure accurate records of massages performed. Attends staff meetings and trainings as required. Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency procedures. Conveys basic knowledge of all program areas to members and participants. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary. Incorporates the mission, philosophy and core values of the YMCA in all communication with participants and co-workers. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Minimum 21 years of age. Current CPR/AED/BBP (within 30 days of hire). Current State of Colorado Massage License. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full use of the lower extremities and back muscles. Kneeling: Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees. Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine. Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. Standing: Particularly for sustained periods of time. Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another. Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward, or outward. Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion. Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles. Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm. Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly. Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and make fine discriminations in sound. Visual Acuity The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly of fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
