TheDivision ofHealth Sciencesat Sinclair is currently inviting highlyqualified applicants for a Chairperson and Program Administratorfor the Nursing Department. Satisfactory performance of the Four Critical Performance areasrequired for all full-time faculty: Teaching, Learning, and Student Development: Participate in the continuing development and implementation of thedepartment’s curriculum through teaching that reflects a strongcommitment to fostering student success. Through in-class andout-of-class initiatives, actively seek to advance the developmentof individual students and their capacity to meet their educationalgoals. Scholarship and Professional Growth: Maintain and seekto improve currency and competence in the discipline and as ateacher. Curriculum Design, Assessment, and Evaluation: Incollaboration with colleagues, actively contribute to thecontinuous review and revision of the department’s curriculum. Mustexhibit advanced computer proficiency, alongside the capability andtime-management skills required for the effective development andrevision of online courses. Implement evaluations to established standards and use assessment data to continuouslyimprove teaching and learning. Workplace and Community Service: Contribute to theoperation and advancement of the college through committee serviceand other activities. Extend professional expertise to thecommunity served by the college. - Principal Accountabilities
Chair Responsibilities Provide leadership for continuous improvement of the Nursingdepartment Provide strong leadership for improving student success Manage faculty, staff, and fiscal resources Support, supervise and evaluate departmental faculty andstaff Lead the continuing development and assessment of thedepartment’s curriculum and programs Lead the continuing professional development of thedepartment’s faculty and staff, full-time and part-time Maintain a climate of open communication, collegiality, andteamwork within the department; actively support the professionalgrowth and development of the department Lead the department in the implementation of emerging bestpractices in Nursing education: pedagogy, curriculum, andassessment Ensure alignment of curricular outcomes with that of areacolleges and universities as well as the Ohio Department of Higher Education in order to facilitate students’ successful transfer Ensure compliance and alignment of 4723-5 Ohio Administrative Code for all requirements of the nursing education programs Ensure compliance with the standards of the Accreditation Commission of Education in Nursing ( ACEN ), Inc. Support Health Sciences Divisional and College-wide initiativesrelated to Enrollment, Assessment and Retention; represent thedepartment at the Division and College levels Lead other administrative/departmental activities asassigned Other responsibilities as listed in the Faculty Handbook Teaching Responsibilities Teaching primarily Nursing courses and other Health Sciencescourses as needed Developing and revising curriculum ensuring continuousalignment with best practices and state mandates. Curriculumresponsibilities will include traditional, online, and blendedcourses Required to teach day/evening, face-to-face classes at thedowntown Dayton campus and other Sinclair sites in addition toweb-based instruction Involvement in both the internal college community as well asoutside organizations in the Miami Valley region Tenure track role equivalent to a 40-hour work week which mayinclude a combination of reassigned time and teaching hours Maintain office hours as required by Sinclair policy Attend department and division meetings Participate in orientation and in-service activities Participate in the college’s evaluation processes Participate in all sessions of the New Faculty Orientationprogram Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Minimum of a master’s degree in nursing required; doctoratepreferred
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the practice ofnursing as a registered nurse, two of which have been as a facultymember in a registered nursing education program
- Possess an active, unrestricted Ohio license as a Registered
- Nurse (RN) requiredEvidence of successful administrative/supervisory experiencepreferred
- Evidence of experience with accreditation requiredEvidence of quality college teaching in nursing required
- Knowledge of utilizing technology in the instructional processrequired
- Evidence of effective interpersonal and team building skillsrequired
- Evidence of effective problem-solving, critical thinking, anddecision making skills required
- Ability to communicate effectively with students,, faculty, staff, and administration required
