Job Description
Lead Switchgear Mechanical Assembler: Picture your morning: you clock in, review the day's build plan, and lead a crew assembling precision switchgear and breaker units that keep critical facilities powered. You move from blueprint to bench, translating engineering intent into flawlessly built equipment while mentoring teammates and safeguarding quality at every step. Shifts & PayWeekday: Monday–Thursday, 6:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Weekend: Friday–Sunday, 6:00 a.m.–6:30 p.m. Full Benefits Day One, and Weekly PayWhat You Will DoAssemble mechanical components for switchgear and/or breaker units from engineering drawings and customer specifications. Own tool care: maintain and use hand and power tools correctly and safely. Run in‑process inspections, follow standard work, and flag risks to product quality. Lead team members through all aspects of ship prep; train and coach employees. Perform root cause analysis on engineering changes and resolve discrepancies. Identify and track part shortages; coordinate ship‑loose items and communicate with QA/QC.Conduct final in‑process inspections and make precise mechanical adjustments on switchgear and/or breakers. Champion a safety-first culture and attend all safety meetings; keep the work area clean and organized.
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED preferred.4+ years in a manufacturing environment. Fluent in basic written and spoken English. Read a tape measure and convert between fractions/decimals and metric/imperial units. Familiarity with Oracle, MES, and True View to locate parts and drawings. Comfortable and safe with a range of hand and power tools. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs using proper technique.
Skills & Attributes: Execute complex engineering changes accurately. Interpret spec sheets and select hardware per specification. Advanced understanding of single‑line and three‑line diagrams and their symbols. Spot part discrepancies and author HFDs to correct them. Strong grasp of mechanical drawings and design intent. On‑time delivery mindset; focused and accountable. Self‑starter who manages multiple tasks and pursues results. Continuously improves processes; challenges the status quo. Adapts quickly to new ideas, technology, processes, and product changes. Customer‑centric approach; integrity and sound judgment. Conscientious, thorough, accurate, and reliable. Collaborative across teams and departments. Learns and follows manufacturing policies and practices to meet ISO requirements.
Working Conditions: Safety‑sensitive role in a temperature‑controlled manufacturing/industrial setting with occasional outdoor tasks. PPE required as applicable: safety shoes, hard hats or bump caps, safety glasses, hearing protection, safety harnesses, and respirators when required. Comfort working from step ladders and A‑frame ladders. Work at heights typically up to 20 feet on elevated structures using proper lift and fall‑protection equipment.
Physical Demands: Maintain balance and agility while walking, standing, crouching, and climbing/descending stairs or step ladders. Frequent bending at waist and knees; reach and extend arms/hands in all directions. Prolonged standing and walking. Frequent overhead work and full‑arm extension with both arms. Lift up to 50 lbs.
