Elementary and Secondary SchoolsSchool and Employee Bus TransportationLandscaping ServicesNon-CDL Student Transport Driver / Grounds Maintenance WorkerThe Non-CDL Student Transport Driver / Grounds Maintenance Worker is responsible for safely transporting students to and from school, extracurricular activities, and other designated locations while also performing routine grounds maintenance throughout the school district. This position supports the maintenance, appearance, and safety of district campuses, athletic fields, parking areas, playgrounds, and landscaped areas. The employee is expected to perform all duties in accordance with district policies, safety regulations, and applicable laws. Student Transportation Safely transports students to and from school, curriculum trips, athletic events, and other scheduled activities. Obeys all traffic laws and observes all mandatory safety regulations for student transport drivers. Follows assigned routes and schedules, adjusting as necessary for traffic or weather conditions. Transports and discharges authorized students only at approved all student transportation safety protocols are followed. Performs routine inspections and basic maintenance of assigned vehicle, including checking fluid levels, tire pressure, cleanliness, and reporting deficiencies. Notifies appropriate authority immediately in case of mechanical failure, accident, or delay. Communicates effectively with students, parents, and school personnel regarding transportation schedules and delays. Enforces all student transportation accidents, incidents, unsafe conditions, and inappropriate student behavior. Maintains accurate records of mileage, fuel usage, inspections, and transportation activities. Participates in student safety training. Returns student property left in vehicles to appropriate staff. Responds appropriately to emergencies following district procedures. Grounds Maintenance Mows, trims, edges, and maintains lawns, landscaped areas, playgrounds, and district grounds. Maintains athletic fields, including baseball, softball, football, soccer, and practice fields to ensure safe playing conditions. Prepares athletic fields for games and school activities by lining fields, dragging infields, setting bases, moving goals, and performing related tasks. Operates lawn mowers, weed trimmers, blowers, utility vehicles, and other grounds equipment safely. Waters lawns, trees, shrubs, flower beds, and athletic fields using irrigation systems and hoses. Assists with irrigation inspections, minor repairs, and reports irrigation deficiencies. Removes weeds, debris, litter, leaves, and other hazards from district property. Assists with snow, ice, storm, and emergency cleanup when necessary. Performs routine tree and shrub trimming as directed. Applies fertilizers, herbicides, and other landscape products in accordance with district procedures and safety requirements when authorized. Assists with setting up and removing equipment for school events, athletic contests, graduations, and community activities. Maintains parking lots, sidewalks, walkways, fences, and exterior campus areas in a clean and safe condition. Reports safety hazards, vandalism, damaged equipment, or maintenance needs promptly. Performs minor repairs to grounds equipment and coordinates larger repairs through the Facilities Department. Assists Facilities personnel with general maintenance projects when transportation responsibilities permit. Maintains grounds equipment, tools, and storage areas in a clean and organized condition. Assists with district-wide beautification projects. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Acceptable Education, Training & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid Arizona driver's license with acceptable driving record (39-month MVD report).Valid IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card.
Ability to pass annual physical and drug test.
Successful completion of First Aid and CPR training.
Successful completion of Behind-the-Wheel training and road test.
Experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, irrigation, agriculture, facilities maintenance, or related work preferred.
Experience operating landscaping equipment preferred.
Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, and the public.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 100 pounds with or without assistance.
Ability to repeatedly bend, stoop, kneel, climb, squat, and work on uneven terrain.
Ability to safely operate vehicles and powered grounds equipment.
Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, wind, and dust.
Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods.
