Aerospace Mechanical Design Engineer (Contract)

Mechanical Design EngineerMUST HAVE ACTIVE DOD SECRET CLEARANCE This position is not eligible for remote work. This position will be 100% on-site. ~10% TravelDESCRIPTION: Support Senior mechanical engineers in the design of military avionics including inertial navigation and measurement systems and mission computers for a major missile programREQUIRED:Bachelor's Degree in STEM with 5+ years applicable experience; OR a MS w 3+yrsDemonstrated proficiency w Siemens NX and Teamcenter PLM softwareExpert-level proficiency with GD&T per ASME Y14.5Experience with drawing creation, tolerance stack-up analysis, etc.Good presentation and writing/communication skillsExperience mentoring junior level engineersMust have an Active DoD Secret or higher clearanceFamiliarity with ASME and MIL standardsBasic understanding of stress principles and component sizingResponsibilities:Mechanical design engineering and lead mechanical engineer responsibilities for inertial navigation systems and/or mission computers, including support for existing product linesCreation of innovative designs with high producibility at minimum unit costSupport for root cause analysis and quick resolution of manufacturing line stops and other critical production activitiesCollaborative work with other engineering organizations, program management, factory operations, global supply chain and Mission Assurance.
