Locomotive Electrician

What You’ll Do: Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair locomotive electrical systems and components. Perform electrical testing and diagnostics using meters and other testing equipment. Remove, repair, replace, rebuild, assemble, install, and adjust electrical components and systems. Complete locomotive rewiring projects. Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals. Install aftermarket control systems, remote-control systems, and engine heating systems. Maintain and repair batteries, lighting circuits, crane circuits, air compressors, and other electrical equipment. Assist with mechanical disassembly and reassembly as needed during repair projects. Diagnose electrical issues and recommend corrective actions. Operate forklifts and other shop equipment safely. Communicate inspection findings and repair recommendations to supervisors. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Qualifications: Valid driver's license required. High School Diploma or GED required. Trade school training or formal locomotive, diesel electrical, industrial electrical, or related training preferred. Minimum 2.5 years of locomotive electrical, industrial electrical, or related experience preferred. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams. Experience using electrical testing and diagnostic equipment. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Forklift experience is a plus. Mechanical aptitude is a plus.
