JOB ROLE29029 is seeking an experienced, results-driven Event Director to drive execution across all aspects of event operations, reporting directly to the Head of Events. This is a senior, full-time role for an operator who has been here before — someone who can step in on day one, take accountability for event production, lead a team and execute premium outdoor events combined with high-end hospitality. WHO WE ARE29029 creates premium endurance events unlike any other. Our signature challenge pushes participants to conquer 29,029 vertical feet — equivalent to Mount Everest's summit elevation — in under 36 hours. This isn't a race; it's a personal test of commitment, patience, and grit in a high-end, highly supported environment. We operate at premier ski resorts across the US and Canada, delivering a 4-day, 3-night experience that includes the endurance challenge, luxury accommodations, guest speakers, recovery services, and all-inclusive dining. Our events are not just logistically complex — they are experiential products. We hold ourselves to exceptional standards. The Event Director is the person who ensures those standards are met, every time.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: End-to-End Event Ownership: Direct event production from initial planning through post-event wrap, including lodging, tenting, course operations, aid stations, and gondola logistics. You own the outcome. Operational Planning: Build and manage comprehensive event operations plans, timelines, run-of-show documents, and contingency protocols for every event. Venue & Partner Management: Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for resort and venue teams, and own day-to-day relationships with all event vendors. Manage expectations and ensure commitments are delivered. Event Mapping & Communication: Oversee production of event maps, site layouts, and participant and staff communications in partnership with the Course Manager, managing internal and outsourced resources to deliver accurate, on-brand materials on schedule. Staff & Contractor Direction: Participate in the recruitment, scheduling, and management of on-site staff, volunteers, and independent contractors. Set expectations and hold people accountable. Budget Ownership: Own event budgets end to end - forecast costs, track actuals, and make decisions that reflect fiscal responsibility without compromising event quality.
Travel: This role requires approximately 40% travel. Travel is concentrated during the event season which runs from June to October. You will be on-site for most events and may be required for additional site visits, partner meetings, and advance trips throughout the year. On-site work involves extended periods on foot at outdoor mountain venues, including at elevation and in variable weather, during multi-day deployments. Travel is not optional; it is core to the role. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE7+ years of experience directing or producing high-end, all-inclusive outdoor events. You have owned events. Demonstrated ability to build and execute complex operational plans for multi-day events with 200+ participants in outdoor or mountain environments. Proven experience managing event budgets with accountability for cost control and reconciliation. Experience managing teams of staff, volunteers, and independent contractors in high-pressure, time-sensitive environments, as well as leading dedicated staff year-round. Deep familiarity with the operational requirements of outdoor events: permitting, safety planning, weather contingency, equipment procurement, and site logistics. Excellent written and verbal communication — you can write a clean run-of-show, brief a team under pressure, and communicate professionally with resort partners and executives. Comfort with project management tools. Strong negotiation skills and the interpersonal presence to manage up, down, and across organizations. Self-directed, highly organized, and operationally rigorous — you thrive in ambiguity and hold yourself to a high standard without being managed. Willingness and ability to travel approximately 40% of the year, including weekends and extended event deployments. COMPENSATION$90,000 – $115,000, depending on experience. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as relevant experience, skills and qualifications, geographic location, internal equity, and market conditions. We also offer health, dental, and vision insurance.
