Pepper is a next-generation, cloud-based data platform that helps alternative asset managers address complex business needs across their organizations. The platform delivers a scalable, integrated solution that centralizes data, enhances collaboration across functional teams, and eliminates silos. Pepper enables asset managers to securely access data, streamline portfolio operations, and gain timely, actionable insights for better investment decisions. By simplifying data complexity, improving speed and accessibility, and strengthening reporting and analysis, Pepper empowers clients to focus on high-impact portfolio actions rather than data management challenges.
Role Description:
The Private Credit Fund – Middle Office, ABL Analyst is a contractor / 1099 role with Pepper requiring in-office work in Midtown Manhattan. The individual will be placed with one of Pepper’s clients and will work closely with the client’s investment and operations teams. A key part of the role will involve using Pepper’s Borrowing Base capabilities to support the client’s asset-based lending portfolio, including ongoing portfolio monitoring, data reconciliation, borrowing-base analysis, collateral and eligibility monitoring, covenant tracking, and liquidity forecasting. In addition to Pepper-related responsibilities, the analyst will support other middle-office activities as required by the client. These may include monitoring borrower and portfolio data, performing reconciliations, identifying and resolving data breaks and exceptions, supporting recurring reporting processes, and helping ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of information used by the client’s investment and operations teams. The role requires regular interaction with both Pepper and client personnel and serves as a key link between the client’s operating processes and the Pepper platform. The analyst will also contribute to process improvements, stronger controls, and scalable operating procedures supporting ABL portfolio monitoring and middle-office activities. Target compensation is $80–$90 per hour, depending on prior experience and overall fit. The engagement will begin on a 1099 contractor basis, with the potential to convert to a full-time employee position at a future date based on business needs and performance.
Qualifications:
3–5 years of experience in a similar middle-office role at a financial institution is preferred. Experience working at an investment fund, asset manager, or within private credit is a plus. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial and operational data and identify inconsistencies or exceptions. Knowledge of finance, particularly private credit, asset-based lending, leveraged lending, or related credit markets. Experience with middle-office operations, portfolio monitoring, data reconciliation, and financial operations. Familiarity with borrowing-base calculations, collateral monitoring, eligibility and concentration tests, covenant compliance, and liquidity forecasting is highly desirable. Experience reviewing borrower reporting and financial data and reconciling information across multiple data sources. Ability to identify data breaks, investigate discrepancies, resolve exceptions, and maintain accurate and reliable portfolio information. Strong proficiency in Excel; experience with portfolio management, loan administration, data management, or risk systems is beneficial. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, or a related quantitative field. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple recurring processes and deadlines. Clear, professional communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with Pepper personnel and client teams. Ability and willingness to work on-site in Midtown Manhattan. Comfortable beginning the role as a 1099 independent contractor, with the possibility of future conversion to full-time employment.
