Paint Prep/Helper

Job Description: The Painter Helper prepares metal parts and structural components for painting and assembly in a high-volume manufacturing environment. This role supports paint operations, assists with construction and assembly of units, and ensures products meet strict measurement tolerances while working safely as part of a small team.

Responsibilities: Prepare parts for painting by grinding, sanding, cleaning, degreasing, taping off areas, and hanging parts on the paint line. Train in the paint booth to provide coverage for painters during vacations or absences. Use tape measures and squares to verify dimensions and ensure accuracy in both paint prep and assembly tasks. Meet paint deadlines and production schedules provided by the third shift leadership. Assist with constructing and assembling units, including cutting and installing insulation into wall panels. Install metal sheets to wall panels, metal doors, and other sub-components onto structures according to specifications. Follow prints, drawings, and work instructions to build structures to required standards. Work on step stools and ladders to access various parts of the structures safely. Remain on your feet for the majority of the shift while performing physical tasks. Use overhead cranes and jib cranes to move large pieces of steel safely and efficiently. Essential Skills High school diploma or GED.At least 1 year of experience with assembly or using hand and power tools. At least 2 years of experience using a tape measure. Ability to read and accurately interpret a tape measure. Basic computer literacy to follow digital work instructions or production documentation. Job Type & Location: This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Canton, OH.

Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
