Amazon is seeking Transportation Operations Managers to work in out sites across the country. The Transportation Operations Manager has complete responsibility for Transportation Operations at a number of sites within a pre-defined region of the country. This position requires a candidate with the proven ability to drive process improvements and the ability to keep pace with our explosive growth while motivating others to meet the challenges of an extremely deadline-driven environment.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Lead and supervise a team of Transportation Area Managers that are located within the individual sites in an effort to streamline logistics within each individual operationResponsible for the overall safety, quality and performance and customer experience of your regionCarry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and proceduresAccountability for meeting and exceeding operational goalsStrategic planning and forecasting; appraise performance; reward and coach employees; resolve problems; address staffing needsMentor, train and develop teammates for career progression and learningAbility to develop and share best practices across the shifts and networkTravel up to 50% may be requiredCandidates must be flexible to work a variety of hours as business demands, including overnight, weekends and holidaysBasic qualifications- 3+ years of employee and performance management experience- Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of Amazon (blue badge/FTE) experience- Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidaysPreferred qualification - 1+ years of performance metrics, process improvement or lean techniques experience- Experience managing a team of 2+ salaried employees and 70+ indirect employees- Experience scoping, leading, and implementing process improvements through: Lean process, Kaizen, and/or Six Sigma.- Demonstrated problem solving skills and analytical skills- Excellent customer service skills, communication skills and interpersonal skills- Track record of meeting or exceeding department performance goals- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain/Logistics, or a related field.- Experience in: military, manufacturing, automotive, biotech, electronics, energy, instrumentation, machinery, defense/aerospace, medical, cosmetics, production, or distribution environments. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
