Psychologist

Job Description: Central State Hospital is seeking a Psychologist

Provides treatment to adults with serious mental illness and co-occurring substance, developmental, and behavioral health needs. Develops and/or completes any warranted risk assessments and psychological testing, behavioral plans, and/or individual and group therapies. Assists in crisis interventions. Completes initial assessments, develops individualized treatment plans, monitors patient progress, and assists with discharge planning. Participates in a multidisciplinary treatment team to assess diagnosis, danger, benefit, and least restrictive level of care. Provides supervision to practicum students and interns, if appropriately credentialed. Testifies for involuntary commitment hearings as needed (Note: New psychologists receive training, mentorship, and opportunities to observe before independently testifying). Conduct competency evaluations and occasional criminal responsibility evaluations. Testify when subpoenaed. (Note: Training can also be provided for these tasks).
