Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist II

Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City seeks an experienced MRI Technologist II to perform high-quality MRI exams in a fast-paced tertiary care and teaching environment. This role is responsible for patient preparation and screening, accurate positioning, protocol selection, and safe operation of MRI equipment to produce diagnostic images for advanced cardiac, neuro, musculoskeletal, and body imaging. The technologist will collaborate closely with radiologists, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams, ensure MRI safety standards, support learners, and contribute to a patient-centered culture of compassion, excellence, and continuous improvement. Perform and optimize MRI examinations according to established protocols and physician orders Prepare, screen, and position patients ensuring safety, comfort, and accurate imaging Operate MRI scanners, coils, and related equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images Follow MRI safety guidelines, including screening for implants, devices, and contraindications Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, and nurses to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning Document exams, maintain accurate records, and use RIS/PACS systems for workflow and image management Educate and reassure patients and families about MRI procedures and address concerns Assist in training and supporting students or new technologists in a teaching hospital environment Participate in quality assurance, equipment checks, and continuous process improvement Adhere to hospital policies, infection control standards, and regulatory requirements MRI scanning protocols Cross-sectional anatomy Patient positioning and immobilization MRI safety and screening Use of MRI scanners and coils Contrast administration and IV insertion (per policy) Radiology information systems (RIS) PACS image management Radiation/safety regulations compliance Communication with physicians and nursing staff Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k ARRT (R) certification ARRT (MR) certification preferred or obtained within specified timeframe State radiologic technologist license (if applicable) BLS/CPR certification MRI safety training
