Role Description:
This is a full-time, on-site Litigation Associate position focused on medical malpractice defense, located in Manasquan, NJ. Under the supervision and direction of the named partners, the attorney will handle all phases of litigation, including drafting pleadings and motions, conducting legal research, managing discovery, and preparing cases for trial. Day-to-day work includes analyzing medical records, consulting with medical experts, developing case strategy, and attending court appearances, depositions, and client meetings. The role involves providing clear legal advice to clients, negotiating settlements when appropriate, and collaborating with partners and other team members to deliver effective defense representation.
Qualifications:
Strong foundation in Law, with demonstrated experience or coursework relevant to litigation and medical malpractice defense. Familiarity with medical terminology and concepts is preferred, but not required. Ability to provide clear, practical Legal Advice to clients, including risk assessment and strategy recommendations. Excellent Research skills, including case law analysis, statutory interpretation, and review of medical and expert reports. Effective Negotiation skills for mediations, settlement discussions, and dispute resolution. Active New Jersey bar admission (or eligibility for prompt admission).1–5 years of litigation experience, preferably in medical malpractice, healthcare, or related defense work. Strong written advocacy and oral communication skills, including drafting briefs, motions, and correspondence. Ability to manage multiple matters, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively in an on-site team environment. Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school; relevant clerkship or prior litigation experience is a plus. Seeking a candidate who demonstrates high autonomy, proactively identifying challenges and executing solutions without needing step-by-step direction.
