Public Health Medical Director

What You’ll Do: Provide medical oversight, patient evaluations, and clinical guidance to Health Department staff. Serve as a medical consultant to the Health Officer and public-health nursing team. Administer and oversee ACIP-recommended vaccines, including hepatitis B, COVID-19, influenza, and pneumococcal vaccines. Provide pediatric capillary and venous lead screening. Issue standing orders for immunizations, medications, and appropriate clinical procedures. Review medical and communicable disease reports and provide clinical recommendations. Make vaccination and public-health clinical decisions and provide patient referrals when needed. Support compliance with NJVFC, 317-Funded Adult, and CDC vaccination program requirements. Participate in meetings and remain available to the Health Officer and nursing staff as needed.

What We’re Looking For: MD degree with a specialty in Pediatrics. Active New Jersey medical license in good standing. At least 2 years of physician experience in a local health department clinic. Experience with Child Health Conference (CHC), VFC, and 317-Funded Adult programs. Experience supporting a local Health Officer with medical and public-health matters. Hands-on experience with vaccination clinics, hepatitis B, COVID-19, influenza, and pneumococcal immunizations. Experience with pediatric lead screening, communicable disease reporting, NJIIS, epidemiology, and disease control. Experience issuing standing orders to public-health nursing personnel.
