Salary: $19.00 Annually
Summary/Objective: The Saw Operator is responsible for safely operating a chop saw to cut aluminum and plastic extruded components used in window shade assembly. The operator follows work instructions and cut specifications, accurately measures materials, verifies cut quality, and supplies conforming components to downstream assembly operations. General mechanical ability, attention to detail, safe work practices, and the ability to read a tape measure are essential to consistently meeting quality and throughput requirements.
Essential Functions: Safely set up and operate a chop saw to cut aluminum and plastic extruded components to specified lengths for window shade assembly. Read and follow work orders, cut lists, standardized work instructions, visual aids, and quality specifications for each assigned component. Use a tape measure and applicable gauges or fixtures to measure extrusion lengths accurately and confirm saw settings before cutting. Position, secure, and support aluminum and plastic extrusions to produce straight, accurate cuts while preventing material damage. Inspect first-piece, work-in-process, and completed components for correct dimensions, cut quality, burrs, cracks, contamination, and other defects. Identify and segregate nonconforming material, stop production when necessary, and promptly report quality or equipment concerns. Perform routine saw checks, blade inspections, minor adjustments, and basic operator maintenance in accordance with training and authorized procedures. Meet established quality and throughput rates while following machine-guarding, lockout/tagout, personal protective equipment, and safe material-handing requirements. Complete required production, scrap, quality, material, and traceability documentation accurately and on time. Maintain an orderly saw area by controlling chips and cutoffs, storing materials properly, and supporting 6S standards. Ability to read a tape measure accurately and apply basic measurement and counting skills. Attention to detail and commitment to dimensional accuracy and cut quality. Ability to follow written, verbal, and visual work instructions, cut lists, and specifications. Safe handling of aluminum and plastic extrusions, saw equipment, blades, tools, fixtures, and gauges. Ability to identify defects, troubleshoot basic process issues, and elevate problems appropriately. Teamwork, reliability, adaptability, and willingness to learn. Ability to maintain required quality and throughput rates without compromising safety.
