The Department of Neurology has a talented, robust team of faculty members and staff members spanning nine divisions which includes representatives from every neurology subspecialty in adult and child neurology, plus award-winning educators, clinical and translational neuroscientists and master clinicians. The mission of the Department of Neurology is to provide state of the art comprehensive patient-centered neurological care for adults, perform translational and clinical research to further understanding of disease mechanisms and develop new treatments, and train the next generation of neurologists and clinical neuroscientists. Department faculty have a responsibility to provide service to their profession and our community. Chief Purpose of This Position in Support of Above Mission
The Department of Neurology is seeking a full-time member to join our expanding clinical and research enterprises in the Division of Movement Disorders. Independently funded research program preferred is helpful, but not required. This position will provide patient care, engage in medical student and neurology resident and fellow education, and participate in clinical research.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Teaching: Faculty member will teach medical students and housestaff. They will be expected to participate in a series of formal conferences for the housestaff and students. They will attend weekly Grand Rounds and lecture upon occasion as requested. Research: The Division of Movement Disorders is engaged in clinical and translational research projects. The faculty member will be expected to participate in, and when appropriate lead, clinical research and clinical trials. Service: Faculty member will serve on departmental, School of Medicine, and/or University committees as necessary, as well as in a professional capacity in their field, e.g., reviewer, conference organizer, etc. Clinical: Primary clinical responsibilities include care of patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Minimum Qualifications:
BC/BE in Neurology Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited neurology residency in the U.S. or Canada and Movement Disorders Fellowship Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty at VCUSalary Range
