Lunch Monitor Supervisor: Building Principal FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Department: Instruction Terms of Employment: Lunch Monitors are part-time, working 1.5-2 hours per day, serve at will, are not employed for any specific length of time and have no property rights in their employment. Supervises: none Position Type: Part-Time Nature of Work Responsible for supervising students during lunch periods in the cafeteria, ensuring a safe and orderly environment, and promoting positive behavior. The monitor will work closely with school staff to enforce school rules and procedures, and to assist students as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities: Oversee students in the cafeteria, ensuring that they are following school rules and behaving appropriately. Maintain a safe environment by addressing any safety concerns, such as spills, unsafe behavior, or any other potential hazards. Promote positive behavior by reinforcing school rules, mediating conflicts, and using appropriate disciplinary measures when necessary. Help students with opening food packages, finding seats, and addressing any other needs they may have during lunch. Ensure the cafeteria remains clean and orderly by supervising student cleanup, managing waste disposal, and reporting any cleaning needs to custodial staff. Report any incidents, concerns, or notable behaviors to school administration and collaborate with teachers and staff to support students. Be prepared to act quickly in case of emergencies, such as injuries or allergic reactions, by following school protocols and procedures. Communicate and display courteous and professional behavior towards students, the public, the Immediate Supervisor, School and District Administrators, staff and peers. Exhibit professionalism by maintaining good attendance and adhering to established work schedule. Comply with the Code of Ethics, administrative directives, board policy, state and federal statutes and rules and regulations. Safeguard the confidentiality of information pursuant to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and other applicable state and federal statutes. Complete mandatory annual Vector Training. Perform such other tasks as may be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: 1. High School Diploma or equivalent. 2. Must pass background check.
